In 1962, Alfa Romeo presented the Giulia, the successor to the Giulietta, as a compact yet spacious sporty saloon. Alfa had already put a great deal of effort into the design of the Giulietta and the then already legendary engine with five crankshaft bearings, two overhead camshafts, hemispherical combustion chambers and twin carburettors was further improved. Basically, the Giulia was available with 1.3 and 1.6-litre engines in various output levels from 78 to 112 hp. Typically, the 1.6-litre variants can be recognised by their twin headlights, while the 1300 models usually only had single headlights. In 1963, 501 of the Giulia TI Super with 112 hp were built, but only delivered to private racing drivers, so you had to prove you had a racing licence to apply for one of the coveted vehicles. A TI Super like this is of course the most sought-after version today. Followed by the Super 1600 built from 1966 to 1973 in the best equipment variant Bollino d’Oro (gold stamp), whose gold stamp is located on the C-pillars. By 1977, a total of 572,646 Giulias of all variants had been built. This meant that the Giulia far exceeded the expectations placed in it in 1962 and it became a legend in its own lifetime. Almost like the Giulia from Shakespeare’s romantic drama Romeo et Giulia …
This Giulia Super 1600 Bollino d’Oro was first registered in Italy in 1967. The vehicle was taken out of service in Catania on 30 December 1985. In 2020, the car was discovered by the owner of a beauty clinic in Palermo and carefully brought back to life. The Giulia was then put back into service on 15 April 2022, meaning the car had been in a deep sleep for over 37 years. After the successful revival, the car was sold to a gentleman in Berlin. Since then, he had always brought the car to us for servicing and we had replaced the front left and right floor panels, among other things, and fitted a new carpet and a new boot lining. The owner from Berlin only drove the Giulia occasionally with his red licence plates and has now left the car to us for sale. We are delighted to be able to offer you this Giulia Bollino Oro with a probable mileage of just 106,513 kilometres.
