When the Déesse (French for goddess) was presented at the 1955 Paris Motor Show, l’auto-journal ran the headline “The bomb has exploded!” And what a bomb it was! By the end of the show, over 80,000 sales contracts had been signed! Statistically, a customer signed a sales contract every two seconds while the show was open! With its unusual design, hydropneumatic suspension, high-pressure brakes, power steering, semi-automatic transmission, spare wheel located in the engine compartment, and many other details, the DS was probably the biggest sensation in automotive engineering ever. Over the course of its production run, improvements and technical and visual changes were continually introduced. In 1965, the top trim level, Pallas, was introduced. According to legend, Pallas is the Greek goddess of wisdom, how fitting for the finest DS. For the 1967 model year, the hydraulic system was converted from synthetic LHS hydraulic oil to mineral LHM hydraulic oil. Since LHM is green, all hydraulic components were painted green from then on, so that a workshop could immediately identify which oil the system was using. The green oil was now hydrophobic, meaning it didn’t absorb water from the ambient air, making the LHM hydraulic systems more corrosion-resistant. For the 1968 model year, the front end of all D models was modified, and dual headlights behind a large glass panel were introduced. The small high-beam headlights on the higher-end models actively illuminated corners as cornering lights. Word of the DS’s cornering lights quickly spread, but many DS fans preferred the old front end with individual headlights, and so the ’67 model, apart from the Mille Miglia-ready models up to 1957, became the most sought-after model today.

This DS 21 Pallas with a semi-automatic transmission is exactly the model most coveted by potential buyers. Finished in classic solid black with natural leather – a DS could hardly be more classic. The car was first registered in France on January 9, 1967, and was only sold to someone in Strasbourg in 2012. Unfortunately, its history up to 2012 has only been passed down orally by the second owner from Strasbourg. In 2014, the vehicle was sold to a German collector with residences in both Berlin and Provence via the French company Armo, which specializes in excellent, original classic Citroëns. He had the car, which was previously in original condition and, according to tradition, had a mileage of 73,635 at the time, completely overhauled. The paint, leather, headliner, and carpet were replaced. A new steering gear was installed, and the entire hydraulic system and brakes were overhauled. The engine received a reconditioned cylinder head. Although the car was transported to Berlin, it has been driven very little since 2015 with red temporary license plates. The current mileage is 74,829 kilometers. The owner is now moving his primary residence to Provence, and since he also owns a DS there, he has entrusted us with this gem for sale.

We have thoroughly examined the car and, based on this examination, have prepared three offers. Our Economy offer for €60,200 refers to the vehicle, which has been inspected and is in good working order, including the repair of a few minor damages. The Standard offer for €65,500 also includes new classic Michelin tires, a new windshield, cavity and underbody waxing, as well as a new general inspection and a H-certificate. The Supreme offer for €67,500 also includes the retrofitting of retractable front seat belts and the installation of reversing lights. We would be happy to send you the details of the offers.
