The 505 model followed the extremely successful 504 in 1979, of which over 3.3 million were built in Europe between 1968 and 1983. The 505 was the better and, above all, more spacious vehicle, but the time for large numbers of such cars was already over due to the diversification in model policy that was already beginning. Nevertheless, a good 1.3 million units of the 505 were built up to 1992. The 505 was specifically developed by Peugeot as an alternative to German premium vehicles from Audi, BMW and Mercedes. The engines were aimed precisely at the competition from Munich (505 GL against BMW 518, 505 GTI against BMW 520i, 505 V6 against BMW 525i and 505 Turbo against BMW 528i). In contemporary test reports, the 505 was always highly praised and was compared to German rear-wheel drive vehicles such as the Mercedes W123 and the BMW E28. The 505 was often the test winner. The reliability is certainly comparable to that of the Mercedes and the driving pleasure is certainly on a par with BMW, but the comfort is certainly better than that of the two competitors. Our company has had two 505s in its fleet for years and these cars have never let us down, despite the approximately 20,000 km that both cars drive per year. Even the frequent use as a tow vehicle seems to have little impact on our own tow vehicle.
This 505 GTI with air conditioning has only driven 6,036 kilometers in its forty-year life! The probability that there is a 505 with similarly low mileage anywhere in the world is almost zero. But it is not just the few kilometers that make the car special, but also the fact that it is a GTI from the first month of production and that it was ordered with an original air conditioning system. The Peugeot received its first vehicle documents on September 12th, 1983 from the Spanish Peugeot sales organization and was registered to its first owner in Granada, Spain on February 3rd, 1984. After this first owner had driven 2,100 kilometers with the car, he died and a widow left the car in the garage until April 7th, 2001. During all those years in the garage, the car unfortunately acquired a few minor dents and scratches, probably from objects that were carried past the car in the garage. On April 7th, 2001, the vehicle was sold to the second owner, put back into operation and the first oil change was carried out. After that, there is evidence of the annual Spanish Inspecciones Tecnicas Periodicas from January 19, 2002, February 12, 2003 and February 21, 2004. Then the car was taken out of service for another three years and on September 11, 2007, at 5,602 kilometers, it was presented again for the Inspecciones Tecnicas Periodicas and the timing belt was replaced. Then again at 5,704 kilometers and on December 17, 2008 and taken out of service again. On December 27, 2022, the GTI was registered again and received new papers, again from Granada. In October 2023, the incredible Peugeot was brought to Germany by a gentleman from Northeim near Göttingen, successfully presented for the German general inspection and H-approval on November 8, 2023 and sold to a dealer friend of ours in Berlin. He then commissioned us to remove all scratches and small dents, and so the body was repainted externally below the window line in February 2024. To do this, we naturally removed all add-on parts and reinstalled them properly after painting. All damage from standing was repaired and the air conditioning was put back into operation. Now the car, with a current 6,036 kilometers on the clock, looks like a one-year-old car. Our managing director himself has two 505s, a GL and a GTI, and he has driven almost 250,000 kilometers with both of them since 2008. So there is a special passion and expertise with these vehicles.
We examined the car thoroughly and made three different offers. Our Économie offer for €25,800 refers to the tested and roadworthy vehicle with a general inspection and H-approval valid until November 2025, as well as retrofitted seat belts in the rear. The standard offer for €29,800 also includes further optimization, new tires and, just to be on the safe side, a new timing belt. The Supreme offer for €34,800 also includes conversion to original alloy wheels with new Michelin TRX tires (mounted on the right side of the vehicle in the photos) and cavity and underbody preservation. We would be happy to send you a detailed list of the three offers by email.
