The Peugeot 205 was produced from 1983 to 1998, won the Golden Steering Wheel award immediately, and with 5,278,000 units built, is one of Peugeot’s most successful models. Fittingly, the model was also nicknamed “Le Sacré Numéro,” meaning “the sacred number.” The car became a megastar of the 1980s and 1990s. Its reliability, robustness, and remarkable resistance to rust made it famous. The model range soon extended from the 42-hp entry-level model to the 200-hp Turbo 16, which was also highly successful as a racing car. From 1986, the convertible was offered with the then-standard fixed roll bar. Listing the entire range of models produced over the course of its production run would be impossible here, as the list of trim levels and available engines would be enormous. The robustness of all models is remarkable, and you can still occasionally see a 205 as an everyday car on the road. They’re still going strong while other small cars have long since succumbed to rust. Just look: a small car over 30 years old is usually a 205. This particular Green model boasts a charming, high-quality green interior with green seatbelts. The bumpers are also painted in the body color, and the then-unprecedented panoramic glass sunroof, which slides outwards over the roof, was standard equipment.

This 205 Green with the large glass sunroof and alloy wheels was registered on March 2, 1993, to a woman born in 1932 in Fellach. On June 21, 2000, the Peugeot passed to its second owner, a woman in Stuttgart. She sold the clearly very well-maintained car on June 21, 2022, to a collector of exceptionally well-preserved and original everyday vehicles in Iserlohn. This collector describes himself as obsessive, because he optimizes his vehicles until there’s nothing left to optimize, and then he sells them. He had this 205 technically perfected and then repainted. He even had the various decals of the special edition Green model replaced after the paint job. Last year, he had us carry out optimizations costing €4,811 and fitted the car with the original alloy wheels, which had been sandblasted and powder-coated. This car is a prime example of how to maintain a near-mint condition despite 196,824 kilometers on the odometer over 32 years, which for this car equates to an average of 502 km/month or 6,025 km/year. The car looks like it just rolled off the assembly line, and every visitor to our workshop who sees it asks where we got a brand-new Peugeot 205. With this Peugeot, you might question the mileage, not because you think it must have driven far more, but because you can’t believe that the car shows virtually no signs of wear. As an added bonus, the car is equipped with a new Blaupunkt Frankfurt RCM 82 DAB audio system. This is a retro radio that looks like a car radio from the early 1990s with a cassette player, but behind the apparent cassette slot are ports for USB, mobile phones, and the like. This DAB radio can communicate with modern technology, yet looks contemporary! A 205 Green with its characteristic green seatbelts, central locking, electric front windows, rear pop-out windows, alloy wheels, and the fabulously large panoramic glass sunroof with its practical pneumatic locking mechanism. Almost like new – presque comme neuf…
