NAG returns to its place of origin after 88 years

We are delighted that the German Museum of Technology Berlin has made a NAG C4b built in 1923 available to the HTW Berlin as a permanent loan and Dipl.-Ing. Kayser would like to express his gratitude to Mr. Ulrich Kubisch, the head of the Vehicles Department at the German Museum of Technology Berlin, who made this possible!

As a lecturer at the HTW Berlin, Mr. Kayser had the idea of exhibiting a NAG there, because the HTW Berlin has been based in the workshops of the former NAG automobile factory since 2008. In 1900, the “Neue-Automobil-Gesellschaft” was founded and moved into the very buildings where the HTW Berlin is located today. In 1919, the brand was renamed “Nationale-Automobil-Gesellschaft” and merged with the Berlin car brand Protos in 1926 to form NAG-Protos. NAG was one of the major German car brands until 1934 and, for example, presented the first German car with a V8 engine in 1931. If you would like to know more about the NAG-Protos brand, you can download an excerpt from Mr. Kayser’s lecture here.

In the photos you can see the NAG C4b after it has just arrived at the HTW Berlin. Students from the Conservation and Restoration/Excavation Technology course are now developing a concept for the type of presentation at the HTW, based on the historical model of how the car was exhibited at the Berlin Motor Show in the 1920s. The vehicle next to the NAG is a racing car that students from the Automotive Engineering course developed and built for Formula Student. This is an international competition in which the students of the HTW Berlin take part every year and of course also take part in the races that are held on Formula 1 tracks.
