The Citroën DS (*Déesse*—French for “Goddess”) is one of the most coveted classic cars of all time. This unmistakable vehicle—extravagant in both its technical design and visual styling—has long since become a legend; above all, it is a legend that generates a wave of goodwill wherever it goes. The D-series models were produced from 1955 to 1975. In 1957, the more simply equipped ID models joined the sophisticated DS lineup. By 1969, the ID models had been replaced by the D-Spécial, D-Super, and D-Super 5 variants. The level of equipment in these variants was upgraded; notably, a tachometer became standard equipment on the D-Super starting in 1969. However, one key detail distinguished all ID, D-Spécial, and D-Super models from the DS: the brake pedal. Unlike the DS models—which feature a so-called “brake mushroom” (a button-like pedal) that requires some getting used to—these models use a conventional brake pedal. Consequently, many enthusiasts prefer driving the models equipped with a standard pedal. Apart from this detail, the models are technically identical and offer the same driving experience; indeed, all D-series models deliver legendary ride comfort.

A gentleman from Berlin purchased this D-Super—equipped with a five-speed manual transmission—in 2020. According to the previous owner, the vehicle was originally delivered to Germany in 1972. Immediately after purchasing the car, he brought it to us for inspection and the rectification of any identified faults. By that time, the Citroën’s exterior had already been largely upgraded to match the look of the DS Pallas—the top-tier trim level. We completed the remaining details and upgraded the headliner and interior lighting to Pallas standards. Even the accelerator and parking brake pedals were sourced from a Pallas model. Since then, the owner has driven the car 7,992 kilometers, and for the past six years, the vehicle has been serviced and repaired exclusively by us. During this time, we carried out extensive work on the rear bodywork, always using new, original sheet metal parts. We have invoices and documentation—including 549 photos—covering all the work performed. Components replaced include the drive shaft boots, exhaust system, fuel pump, electronic distributor, rims and tires, the entire wiring harness (!), alternator, various hydraulic lines, hydraulic pump, heater valve, tie rods, heat exchanger, water pump, and the fuel tank. Upgrades include a heated rear window, reversing lights, four modern seatbelts, and a period-correct radio with a connection cable for an iPod or mobile phone.

To allow the suspension to be raised without starting the engine, we installed an additional electric hydraulic pump—a complex modification that has been officially approved by the TÜV. Naturally, as soon as the engine is started, the original mechanical hydraulic pump takes over, and the electric pump switches off automatically. Consequently, while the engine is running, only the original hydraulic system components are in operation. This setup allows the vehicle to be raised electrically without starting the engine; this avoids exhaust emissions during the lifting process and prevents triggering CO alarms in underground garages. It also makes it possible to raise the car electrically if a tow truck is ever required. The system has operated flawlessly since its installation just over two years ago and is a truly excellent feature. This is a technically straightforward D-Super featuring a conventional brake pedal and a manual 5-speed gearbox, yet visually matching the refined Pallas trim level. Combined with an electric hydraulic pump, the result is a truly special, high-quality vehicle offering maximum usability—a *Déesse Optimisée*.

We subject every vehicle to a systematic inspection—covering everything from the bodywork and engine to the electrical system. Based on this, we prepare three proposal options. You decide which offer best suits your needs.

Économie – €35,900
Inspected, roadworthy vehicle with “H-plate” (historic vehicle) certification and a valid technical inspection (MOT/TÜV) through March 2028.

Standard – €37,900
Includes the above plus a major service (oil change, new battery) and repainting of select engine ancillaries.

Suprême – €43,300
Includes the above plus repainted rear fenders, refinished headlight housings, and wax-based cavity and underbody preservation.

We would be happy to send you the details of these three proposals. Alternatively, simply give us a call, and we can explain everything to you personally.
