When the *Déesse* (French for “Goddess”) was unveiled at the 1955 Paris Motor Show, *L’Auto-Journal* ran the headline: “The bombshell has dropped!” And what a bombshell it was—by the end of the show, over 80,000 purchase contracts had been signed. Over a production run of just under twenty years, 1,455,746 units of this model were sold. With its unconventional design, hydropneumatic suspension, high-pressure braking system, power steering, semi-automatic transmission, spare wheel housed in the engine bay, and numerous other features, the DS was arguably the greatest sensation in the history of automotive engineering. For the 1966 model year, the DS Pallas joined the “standard” DS lineup. Mechanically identical, the Pallas distinguished itself through a more luxurious interior—featuring thicker seats and carpeting—and significantly more exterior chrome trim. For the 1967 model year, all models received a redesigned front end featuring dual headlights behind a single glass cover; one pair was linked to the steering mechanism via cables—creating the DS’s famous directional headlights. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, the DS Pallas was the ultimate in comfort, regarded by Mercedes and Jaguar alike as the benchmark for ride quality. To this day, we know of no car that “irons out” road imperfections better than a DS.

This DS 21 Pallas, equipped with a semi-automatic transmission, was built in late 1967 and registered on January 4, 1968, in Les Sables-d’Olonne—a town on the Atlantic coast, just north of the Île de Ré. It changed hands in 1997, was sold to a buyer in Germany in 2002, and was registered in Bielefeld on June 26, 2003. In 2004, the new owner had the car’s mechanical systems overhauled, the leather, carpeting, and headliner replaced, the bodywork repainted, and the sought-after Jäger instrument cluster installed. The car changed hands again in the Bielefeld area in 2013 and 2024. The current owner could not resist the charm of the “Goddess” (DS), but after two years, he realized he had little time to drive the car, let alone maintain it. He offered the vehicle to us; we collected and thoroughly inspected it, then had the engine bay dry-ice blasted, replaced the battery, secured the stainless steel exhaust with new rubber mounts, replaced all suspension bump stops and under-hood insulation mats, and installed new speedometer cables. With this work complete, we are now offering this highly elegant Bordeaux-colored DS Pallas—featuring leather upholstery, directional headlights, the earlier dashboard style, and the coveted Jäger instruments—for sale. Since our company was founded on March 2, 2004, we have had a total of 237 Citroën D-models (ID and DS) in our workshop, exactly 100 of which were DS models. It therefore seemed fitting to name this vehicle “Number One Hundred” (or *Numéro Cent*).

Additionally includes a respray of the bodywork—including the headlight housings and the plastic roof—as well as wax-based cavity and underbody preservation.
