The 205 model was produced from 1983 to ’98, was awarded the Golden Steering Wheel straight away and is today, with 5,278,000 units built, the most successful Peugeot model. Significantly, the model was also called “Le Sacré Numéro”, which means something like the consecrated, holy, sacred number. The car developed into a megastar of the ’80s and ’90s. The reliability, robustness and amazing resistance to rust made the car famous. The model range soon extended from the 42 hp entry-level model to the 200 hp Turbo 16, which was also extremely successful as a racing car. From 1986, the convertible was offered with the fixed roll bar that was common at the time. It would be out of place to list the variety of models achieved over the course of the production period, because the list of equipment variants and possible engines would be enormous. The robustness of all models is also enormous and sometimes you still see a 205 as an everyday car on the road. They are still driving around while other small cars have long since given in to rust. Pay attention, a small car over 30 years old is usually a 205. From 1984, the Lacoste model was offered in white paint, with white hubcaps, white bumpers, green decorative stripes and green carpet. This is not a special model, but a model that was built for years and even went through the facelift introduced in 1988. The Lacoste was available as a three-door with a sunroof or as a five-door without a sunroof. In contrast to the special models, various extras could be ordered with the Lacoste. As far as we know, 29,900 Lacoste models were produced.

This 205 Lacoste is equipped with the 1.4 liter engine with 83 hp and an original air conditioning system! The car was registered on May 25, 1988 in Aviles, west of Bilbao, Spain. The maintenance booklet is there, but the usual service intervals were not stamped, but rather it was always written down to the exact day when what was repaired. This list goes up to November 10, 2009 at 98,517 kilometers. An additional card with regular maintenance stamps from October 21, 2004 to March 2, 2022 at 120,153 kilometers is also there. As is the operating manual in Spanish. The car was bought by a Berlin dealer, given a new MOT and already equipped with German papers. Our first test drive showed that everything works, including the air conditioning. However, it does not cool as well as it should and therefore needs a new filling. The car has no rust problems, but the body has some dents and scratches that can only be effectively removed by a new coat of paint.
