Pierre Michelin took over the management of Citroën in 1935, after the death of the company’s founder André Citroën. In order to put the company on a sounder financial footing, they began developing the TPV, the Toute Petite Voiture (French for the very small car). To clarify the purpose of the project, internally they spoke of an umbrella with four wheels that could be used to transport four people and a basket of raw eggs across the country. It was therefore clear that it was to be an extremely inexpensive vehicle that could transport four people and some luggage so comfortably that the eggs would arrive at their destination safely. The idea for the vehicle came from Pierre Boulanger, and André Lefebvre, who had already developed the legendary Traction Avant (Gangster Limousine), was responsible for the technical development. The design was created by Flaminio Bertoni, who was also the chief stylist of the Traction Avant. After the “Duck”, Flaminio Bertoni created the DS, whose design is unmatched and unique to this day. The TPV was presented to the public in 1939, but due to the outbreak of war, only 250 pre-war cars were produced. After the war, the project was thoroughly revised and presented in 1948. Series production began in 1949 and by 1990, 3,868,631 sedans and 1,246,335 box vans had been produced. This means that the vehicle remained in production for over 42 years! As early as the 1960s, the vehicle, now known in Germany as the “Duck”, became a worldwide cult car of the flower power and 1968 generation. And it has remained a cult car, or perhaps the cult car par excellence, to this day.

This “corrugated iron duck” originally comes from Orange, north of Avignon. The last owner had picked up the car in Orange around 25 years ago and brought it to Münsterland. There he completely dismantled the car and rebuilt it. Since his father was a car mechanic, he had learned how to repair cars from a young age and his father had accompanied and supported the work as an expert. There is even a newspaper report from 2010 about the owner and his favorite car. Due to a lung disease, the owner took early retirement and moved with his wife to the Baltic Sea for better air. Unfortunately, he only had ten years left and his widow could not part with the 2CV at first. The car had not been driven for about three years and thanks to the daughter we were able to sell the car and fetch it from Bad Doberan. We have examined the Citroën thoroughly and repaired the damage from the last three years. The body, paintwork and frame of the 2CV are in absolutely fantastic condition. Now this charming 2CV is looking for a new home. A 2CV from an inheritance – une Deux Chevaux d’un Héritage.

Our Économie offer for €17,800 refers to the inspected vehicle with damage from standing already repaired and in a fully roadworthy condition. The standard offer for €22,500 also includes new tires, front indicators, a new tank, as well as a new general inspection and an H-report.
