In 1993, Peugeot launched the 306 as a direct rival to the VW Golf III. The model was offered as a three- or five-door hatchback, a four-door sedan, a five-door estate, and a four-seat convertible. The highly elegant yet understated convertible debuted in 1994 and was manufactured by Pininfarina in Italy until 2002; it stands as the last classic Peugeot convertible designed by Pininfarina. Peugeot subsequently decided its in-house designers could do a better job—though whether the ensuing models (206 CC, 207 CC, 307 CC, and 308 CC) are truly just as stylish remains a matter of personal taste. The entire model range proved highly successful and, unlike the Golf III, features excellent corrosion protection; truly rusty examples are the exception even today. Around 78,000 units of this spacious four-seater convertible were built, and prices are now beginning to rise; the model has long since bottomed out in terms of value. However, the cars are so robust that the vast majority today suffer from a significant backlog of maintenance. Professionally maintained examples in good condition are a rarity. It is a “youngtimer” already on its way to becoming a true classic—a car whose current price point will likely seem laughably low in just a few years.

This Peugeot 306 Cabriolet was first registered in 1999 to a company in Schwäbisch Hall. A year later, it was sold to a private individual in the same town. Between 2007 and 2023, the car changed hands three times; in 2023, it was purchased by a gentleman from Cologne who had been looking for a high-quality 306 Cabriolet in “Ginstergelb” (Broom Yellow). Since then, he has invested both money and—above all—a great deal of love into the vehicle. By chance, he came across an identical vehicle—same model and color, with very low mileage—and simply couldn’t resist. Since the owner (from Cologne) knows our Managing Director from his time as a development engineer at Ford, he brought the convertible to us and asked us to find a new enthusiast to cherish the car. Our Managing Director owns a 306 Cabriolet himself and knows these cars inside out; he, too, is keen to see this “Ginster Yellow” (*jaune genêt*) convertible pass into caring hands.

We subject every vehicle to a systematic inspection—covering everything from the bodywork and engine to the electrical system. Based on this, we prepare three different proposals. You decide which option suits you best.

Économie – €3,200
Inspected, roadworthy vehicle with a valid inspection certificate (MOT/TÜV) through May 2027.

Standard – €4,600
Includes a new rear exhaust silencer, a new left door check strap, an oil change, and a fresh inspection certificate.

Suprême – €6,900
Includes repair of the left seat bolster, a new right-side mirror (electric motor was faulty), and wax-based cavity and underbody preservation.
