The Chevrolet Corvette has long been an American legend. It has been in production since 1953, now in its eighth generation (C1 to C8). Total production of all models is approaching two million. After World War II, European sports cars, primarily from Jaguar, were very popular in the USA, and American industry had no comparable product to offer. The Corvette changed this and became a unique part of American automotive culture. From its inception to the present day, the Corvette has had a fiberglass body and is considered the first production car with a fiberglass body. The East German automotive industry was inspired by the Corvette and in 1956 introduced the Sachsenring Trabant, the GDR’s “people’s car,” also with a fiberglass body. It was primarily the Corvette and the Trabant that made fiberglass bodies socially acceptable. A high-performance sports car and a small car – that’s life sometimes. But back to the Corvette, which was presented in 1953 with a 3.8-liter inline six-cylinder engine producing 155 hp. In 1957, the Corvette received V8 engines based on General Motors’ so-called small-block design. However, it wasn’t until the second generation, the C2, built from 1962 onwards, that the Corvette truly came into its own, earning the nickname “Sting Ray.” Engines with displacements up to 7 liters were now offered, providing the necessary dynamics. In Europe, the Corvette’s handling was long considered beneath the dignity of a sports car, a perception that only changed with the C4 in 1983 and especially with the C5 in 1997. Today, the Corvette is among the most reliable high-performance sports cars, setting international standards. The C8, launched in 2019, broke with the tradition of the front-engine layout, becoming a mid-engined sports car like a Ferrari or Lamborghini. This gives the C7 the distinction of being the last front-engined Corvette, a fact that has already made it a highly sought-after collector’s item. The C7, like almost all generations, was offered as a coupe and a convertible. All engines have a 6.2-liter displacement, with a naturally aspirated version producing 466 hp and a supercharged version producing either 659 or 765 hp. The naturally aspirated version is considered one of the last high-performance sports cars without turbocharging or supercharging and enjoys a special status precisely because of this. The vast majority of vehicles are equipped with automatic transmissions. A model with a manual transmission and a naturally aspirated engine is already considered a favorite by many.
This Corvette Stingray convertible with a 7-speed manual transmission comes from its first owner in Berlin and was first registered on February 11, 2015. All documents, including the order form, are available. Among the optional extras selected were Nappa leather, power-adjustable seats, automatic climate control, a navigation system, heated seats, a DAB audio system, and an 8-inch digital instrument cluster. This is therefore a convertible with a naturally aspirated engine, manual transmission, and almost all available options. Furthermore, it has only 14,400 kilometers on the odometer. All service records and a repair invoice for a new rear bumper are available. The owner has bought a classic car and therefore entrusted us with this magnificent example for sale. The vehicle has been meticulously maintained and looks almost brand new. There are no outstanding repairs and no maintenance required – simply get in and drive. Oh yes, the convertible top can, of course, be operated at the touch of a button and even opened remotely.
