*La Déesse*—Citroën’s “Goddess”—is arguably one of the most famous classic cars of all time. With its unconventional design, hydropneumatic suspension, high-pressure braking system (featuring the first mass-produced disc brakes), power steering, semi-automatic transmission, and a host of other details, the DS was arguably the greatest sensation in automotive history. Between 1955 and 1975, 1,456,115 units of this upper-mid-range vehicle were produced. For the 1966 model year, the DS Pallas joined the standard DS lineup. While technically identical to the base model, the Pallas distinguished itself with a more opulent interior—featuring thicker seats, foam-backed carpeting, and an especially plush headliner—as well as significantly more exterior chrome trim. Additionally, Pallas models offered superior sound insulation; from 1965 to 1967, they came standard with small auxiliary iodine headlights mounted next to the main headlamps. For the 1967 model year, all models received a redesigned front end featuring dual headlights behind a single glass cover; the inner pair was linked to the steering mechanism via cables—creating the DS’s famous directional headlights. By the late 1960s, the DS Pallas was arguably the most comfortable sedan on the market, serving as a benchmark for leading luxury manufacturers such as Mercedes, Opel, Jaguar, and Cadillac. It was no coincidence that Citroën named the car “DS Pallas,” as Pallas was the Greek goddess of wisdom in antiquity.

We have known this DS 23 Pallas—equipped with electronic D-Jetronic fuel injection, a semi-automatic transmission, and an original crank-operated sunroof—since 2004, the year our company was founded. The original owner, a cardiologist at the Charité hospital, had the car extensively restored shortly before our company began operations. In 2013, 16,147 kilometers ago, the engine was completely dismantled and rebuilt at a cost of €11,733.64. In 2014, the doctor’s family circumstances changed, and we sold the car to a customer in the Berlin area. Since 2014, the car has been serviced exclusively by us. We replaced the entire wiring harness and installed a new windshield 4,725 kilometers ago. In 2023, we sold the car to a gentleman from Halle. He passed away this year, and his son has entrusted us with selling the vehicle again.

A particularly rare feature of this *Déesse* is its original crank-operated sunroof—an option offered only during the final years of production and rarely ordered due to its high cost. Although we are already familiar with the vehicle, we have thoroughly inspected it again and remain convinced of its excellent condition. Signs of wear or aging since the restoration was completed 22 years ago are minimal. Includes everything in the Standard package, plus removal of the non-original hood handle, a new steering wheel (porous PU), new engine mounts, new classic Michelin tires, and wax-based cavity and underbody preservation.
