The Saab 900 I was produced in four model variants between 1978 and 1994. Body styles included three- and five-door “Combi-Coupés,” four-door sedans, and—starting in 1986—four-seater convertibles. The first series was built until 1981, the second until 1986, and the third until 1994. From the third series onwards, the vehicles featured an aerodynamically sloped front end. The Combi-Coupé remained in production through 1993, while the convertible was built until 1994. In 2000, the American automotive group General Motors acquired Saab and subsequently incorporated technology primarily from Opel into the Swedish cars. Three years after the GM takeover, the successful—though no longer profitable—900 model was discontinued and replaced by a successor bearing the same name; however, due to its use of the Opel Vectra platform, this new model differed fundamentally from its predecessor in both technical specifications and appearance. Saab’s financial situation failed to improve—whether despite or because of the GM takeover. In 2010, GM sold the company to the Dutch low-volume sports car manufacturer Spyker Cars, which was forced to file for insolvency on December 19, 2011. The era of the 900 model is now regarded as Saab’s “golden age,” and the vehicles were already considered classics prior to the insolvency. In recent years, price levels for all 900 models (up to 1994) have risen sharply; well-maintained cars with powerful turbo engines are approaching the €30,000 mark, while corresponding convertibles are even nearing €40,000. However, finding cars in excellent, original condition has become increasingly difficult.
One of our scouts discovered this Saab 900 in Sweden in 2017. Up to that point, the vehicle had remained with its original owner and had covered approximately 132,000 kilometers. The car was in completely untouched condition; even the paintwork was the original finish applied at the Saab factory in 1991. We sold the vehicle in 2018 to a German customer living in the Netherlands and repainted the exterior of the tailgate, as it had slight dents caused by closing it with the heel of the hand. We also removed the headliner shell and reupholstered it with new, authentic-style fabric. Since 2018, the customer has driven the car almost exactly 10,000 km, bringing the current mileage to 142,037 kilometers. The customer is very happy with the Saab, but the time has now come for major repairs. The windshield has a stone chip and needs replacing, the tires are now 20 years old, and the engine should be removed and resealed externally. While doing this, we would also replace the cylinder head gasket and the clutch. The customer does not wish to invest in this work and has therefore entrusted us with selling the Saab. If we carry out the aforementioned work for you—along with cavity and underbody preservation—you will receive a Saab 900 in absolutely excellent condition that you will enjoy for a very long time to come.
We subject every vehicle to a systematic inspection—covering everything from the bodywork and engine to the electrical system. Based on this, we prepare three proposal options. You decide which offer suits you best.
Economy – €12,000
Inspected and roadworthy vehicle, but without a valid mandatory vehicle inspection (MOT/TÜV).
Standard – €19,500
Includes bench-based sealing of the engine and transmission, a new cylinder head gasket, a new windshield, and new tires, as well as a new general inspection and certification for historic vehicle status (H-plate).
Suprême – €22,500

We would be happy to send you the details of these three package options. Alternatively, simply give us a call, and we can explain everything to you personally.
